Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Chateauneuf-du-Pape is a French AOC of 3,200 hectares located in the southeast of France in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region. The first known origins of the vines in the region can be traced back to 1157, although a vineyard have certainly been there before. Noticed by Pope Clement V, this precious terroir starts rising under the reign of his successor, Jean XXII, who consecrate it "Vin du Pape". Soon the wine is gaining fame and is distributed farther and farther abroad. This appellation remains today one of the most famous in the Rhone Valley. It usually produces colored wine well structured and complex.
